Today the rain held out! We were not sure about what would happen. We took the ferry across the Connecticut River and viewed the beautiful foliage while looking at Gillette's Castle. After the ferry we went out to a lunch at Moravelas in Chester. Students all enjoyed themselves and were appropriate.
Students went to new volunteer site to help out in whatever way they could. They helped set up tables, walked around the facility, and met the people who come. It was a wonderful experience and they got ideas for the next time we are going!
Students went pumpkin picking and apple picking. Then went to Stop and Shop to buy groceries. Fun fall day.
We went back to the Saybrook at Haddam on Monday. We spread out in the dining room and kitchen and front room. Kids worked very hard on this!
We were supposed to head to a farm today, but the student who works there was absent so we decided to do a hike at the Meadows. It was a cool and dewy walk. The sun came out and it was beautiful. Students ate lunch on rocks. It was wonderful. We then stopped by the store of our student's father. It was a great day.
Students enjoyed making two crafts. One photo frame and one memory board. They worked on many fine motor skills such as painting, cutting, tracing, gluing, and folding.
Students then enjoyed lunch at Friendly's. They paid for their own meals. It was great.
Today students went to the post office to mail some envelopes and one student used his debit card to buy stamps!
Then they went to Dunkin Donuts and bought and ordered some of their own items to eat for lunch. Great experience.
On September 19th we started a new volunteer program at The Saybrook at Haddam. Student cleaned some spaces and other helped out in the dining room/kitchen. Lots to do!
We met up with another 18-21 Program. We went on a hike, to the Nature Center, and had a picnic on the beach. After the picnic we collected shells and enjoyed the sunshine.
Miniature Golf was a blast! On September 1st. Students loved being by the water and having a great time. We also celebrated a friends birthday.
