Students volunteered their time at the Saybrook at Haddam today. They worked on cleaning dining room chairs, folding napkins, dusting tables, vacuuming, and running dishes through the dishwasher. It was great to be back!
Students went to Petco and bought new fish for our fish tank. They then stopped at the library to get new books to read during their leisure time.
We headed to Callahan's Bowling in Newington. Students enjoyed bowling with 3 other students from Strive's 18-21 program. They did a great job changing their shoes, paying to bowl, and giving their name.
We then joined our friends for lunch at Doogies and kids ordered their own food, got their own soda and condiments, asked for refills, and a couple students even asked for to -go boxes on their own. Great trip. Students went shopping for some grocery items today. After shopping they went to the Haddam Senior Center where they participated in a craft, with the seniors, making snowflakes to hang on the window in the apartment. Busy day!
We went to Jack's in Higganum for a late breakfast. They ordered their own food and paid at the end. Staff encouraged students to raise their hand and advocate when they needed something else to drink. Students also stopped by the post office to mail some things and buy stamps.
