We headed to Callahan's Bowling in Newington. Students enjoyed bowling with 3 other students from Strive's 18-21 program. They did a great job changing their shoes, paying to bowl, and giving their name.
We then joined our friends for lunch at Doogies and kids ordered their own food, got their own soda and condiments, asked for refills, and a couple students even asked for to -go boxes on their own. Great trip.
Students went shopping for some grocery items today. After shopping they went to the Haddam Senior Center where they participated in a craft, with the seniors, making snowflakes to hang on the window in the apartment. Busy day!
We went to Jack's in Higganum for a late breakfast. They ordered their own food and paid at the end. Staff encouraged students to raise their hand and advocate when they needed something else to drink. Students also stopped by the post office to mail some things and buy stamps.
Students went to volunteer at the Haddam Senior Center. There they helped fold paper for angel ornaments and other bulb ornaments. Students also greeted seniors that came in. At the end they helped set up chairs for the band concert that was taking place later in the day.
Students wrapped presents from their purchases at Wesbtrook Outlets. They made gift tags and fun bird wreaths. While listening to holiday music they made cookies, english muffin pizzas, and drank hot chocolate. The finished up the day with the movie The Santa Clause. It was a fun day.
Students went to Westbrook Outlets and shopped for Christmas presents for their family members. Great time, even though it was a little chilly.
Students went to North Haven Cinemas to see Trolls. They purchased their own tickets and bought food if they wanted some. They enjoyed the movie very much.
Students enjoyed a breakfast out at a familiar place, The Copper Skillet. They ordered their own food and paid for their own meals.
They then went to Stop and Shop to buy items for their upcoming Thanksgiving Feast. It was a great day!
Today students volunteered at Saybrook at Haddam. Some student vacuumed and dusted. Others rolled silverware, filled salt and pepper shakers, and cleaned dining room chairs. All worked so hard. Great job!
Students enjoyed an in school production of Our Town. A play with fellow students.
They then worked together as a group and made spaghetti and meatballs.
